Sony Bravia TV Owners Offered Safety Inspection

Sony has said that the issue came to there attention through reports in Japan that a limited number of products might contain a component affected by a quality issue, which in a rare number of cases might over-heat and ignite inside the television and possibly result in the melting of the upper casing of the television

Sony is asking owners of affected models to contact one of its services centres so an inspection can be carried out and the sets repaired if they contain the affected component. This inspection is free and Sony will send an engineer to your home to inspect the TV.  The company denied initial reports it was recalling more than 1m sets.

The model numbers that could contain the faulty component are :-

KDL-40D3400                      KDL-40D3500                      KDL-40D3550

KDL-40D3660                      KDL-40V3000                      KDL-40W3000

KDL-40X3000                      KDL-40X3500

There is two ways to check what model you have :-

1.       Identify model number from the Product Information option in the Set-Up Menu, press the “Menu” button then the “Settings Menu” on the TV remote control.

      2.       The model number is also on a label on the back of the sets.
