Audacity Failed To Start Because The Application Configuration Is Incorrect

I had just installed Audacity onto a Windows XP machine and got the following error “Audacity failed to start because the application configuration was incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem” as you can guess the first thing I did was to remove and reinstall the application but no luck same error.

After looking on the net I found you can fix the problem by downloading Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) or Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)  I installed this and it then resolved the problem.  From what I read online this can happen on different versions of Audacity.
