You can still get a FREE Windows 10 upgrade [Tested Nov 2021]

Microsoft’s free upgrade offer for Windows 10 officially ended in 2016, but it does still work and you can upgrade for FREE !

I tried this November 2021 and I was able to upgrade a Windows 8.1 laptop to Windows 10, with no codes or licences required.

Before you do anything you must ensure that your copy of Windows is properly activated. This is especially important if you recently reinstalled Windows.

Visit Microsoft’s “Download Windows 10” page.

Click the Download tool now button.

After the download completes, double-click the executable file to run the Media Creation Tool.

If you want to upgrade then you can choose the Upgrade This PC Now option.

Selecting that option will install the most recent version of Windows 10. It can take an hour, more or less, depending on your hardware.

It gives you the option to keep all your data and programs.

Follow the prompts during the installation to complete the upgrade to Windows 10. You will not be asked for a product key, and when the upgrade is complete and you’ve connected to the Internet, you’ll have a digital license to the most recent Windows 10 version, which you can confirm by going to Settings > Update and Security > Activation.

Disclaimer – Although this worked fine for me, I can not guarantee it will work for you. I spent some time looking online first and found various posts that indicated that this still worked, and it seems to have worked fine for me.
