Vodafone break-in causes problems in Basingstoke area
Vodafone has had a break in at a technical site in Basingstoke, It happened between 1.00am and 2.00am this morning, some specialist network equipment and IT hardware was stolen. Loss of service to Vodafone customers is mainly confined to parts of the M4 corridor and west of London and some areas either side, it is said that several hundred thousand customers may have been affected. Vodafone said there is no impact on the security of customers’ private information.
In a press release issued today Vodafone said :-
“We had a break in last night at one of our technical facilities which resulted in damage done to some of our equipment. This means that some customers may be experiencing temporary loss of voice, sms and internet services. We are working quickly to restore these and will be back to normal as soon as we can. There has been no impact on the privacy of customers’ data. “
