BT is currently in the roll out phase of two types of fast broadband :-

Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) which offers downloads at up to 40Mbit/s and uploads at up to 15Mbit/s.

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) offers downloads at up to 100Mbit/s and uploads at up to 30Mbit/s.

There is a webpage you can visit (here) which will tell you when your local exchange will get the new superfast broadband, if your exchange is not currently on the list keep checking it every so often as the list gets updated with new exchanges.
